Working Together For A Better Bolivar County
The Bolivar County Purchasing Department handles all purchasing for the Board of Supervisors and County offices. We are responsible for the procurement of commodities, equipment, and services at the lowest and best costs consistent with the item's current economic conditions and in conformance with "State Purchasing Laws." The Purchasing Department is staffed by two procurement officers who are committed to timely acquisition of quality products and services required to support the county's needs.
The County has centralized procurement authority under the Office of the Purchasing Agent. These are the purchasing guidelines:
$0-5,000.00 – Quotes may be obtained but aren't required
$5,001-25,000 – At least two written competitive quotes are required
$25,001 & Above – Bid process including public advertising
Bolivar County solicits 6 month term bids for the following categories:
Chemicals, Concrete Bridge Mat Precast, Emulsified Asphalt, Fuel & Lubricants, Grader Blades, Gravel, Sand, Dirt, Hot & Cold Asphalt, Janitorial Supplies, Limestone, Metal Culverts, Polyethylene Culvert Pipe Couplings, Railroad Tank Car Culverts, Scrap Iron and Steel, Signs and Posts, and Used Gas Line Pipe.
Heads up: the bid-cycle paragraph on the live page references specific 2005 dates ("current 6 month period will end September 19th, 2005..."). That's clearly stale content from whenever the page was last updated — worth replacing with the current cycle's actual dates rather than carrying the old ones forward. Let me know the current dates and I'll swap them in.
Six month term bids, as well as purchases for more than $15,000, may be made from the lowest and best bidder after advertising for competitive sealed bids once each week for two (2) consecutive weeks in the local newspaper (The Bolivar Commercial). The date as published for the bid opening shall not be less than seven (7) working days after the last published notice; however, if the purchase involves a construction project in which the estimated cost is in excess of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00), such bids shall not be opened in less than fifteen (15) working days after the last notice is published.
Bid opportunities may also be obtained by visiting the Mississippi Contract Procurement Center website at www.mscpc.com.
